Even after years following her departure from WWE, AJ Lee continues to remain a beloved figure among fans.
The former WWE Divas Champion called time on her wrestling career in 2015, citing damage to her cervical spine as one of the reasons behind her decision.
Nonetheless, reports remain rife that CM Punk’s unceremonious exit from the company in 2014 may have been a contributing factor.
During her six-year tenure with the company, Lee gained popularity for her compelling storylines as well as notoriety for her ‘crazy chick’ persona.
One of her famous in-ring segments involved her own version of “pipe bomb,” similar to one that Punk did on a 2011 Raw episode.
While Punk has returned to WWE, there have been speculations among fans about Lee’s return.
AJ Lee May Be Done With Wrestling
Recently, WWE announced the return of the all-women’s event Evolution, scheduled for July 13.
Appearing on Sportskeeda WrestleBinge, American journalist Bill Apter and WrestleVotes were asked about the potential return of Paige, Ronda Rousey, or AJ Lee at the event.
It’s funny because Paige, I can definitely see here there. Don’t know if it’ll happen again. Don’t go crazy, internet. I could see her there. It’s a flip of a coin on Rousey. I’d imagine she’s back at some point. She has a connection with TKO. Don’t know if it’s going to be anytime soon.
I cannot see AJ Lee at all. I do not think she’ll be there. 0% chance, said WrestleVotes.
Then, Bill Apter provided an update on what Lee has been up to these days.
AJ Lee is doing something in New York at a film festival. She’s made a film. I don’t think her heart is back in pro wrestling just yet.
WWE Evolution was last held in 2018. However, despite its success, a follow-up to it was never discussed until recently.
