The Phoenix Suns are coming off what could only be described as an incredible disappointment of a season. Instead of improving upon the prior season in which they were swept out of the NBA Playoffs by the Minnesota Timberwolves, they went in the other direction, finishing 36-46.

As a result, they missed out on even securing a spot in the NBA Play-In Tournament, finishing as the No. 11 seed in the Western Conference. They made changes quickly, firing head coach Mike Budenholzer.

Kevin Durant’s camp is eyeing one team amid trade rumors
The changes didn’t stop there, as owner Mat Ishbia installed Brian Gregory as the general manager and moved James Jones into a senior advisory position. With the general manager now in place, the Suns will likely explore trading Kevin Durant after opting not to trade him at the trade deadline in February.
According to John Gambadoro of Arizona Sports 98.7 FM Phoenix, close to Durant’s camp is looking at one team in particular as his desired destination: the San Antonio Spurs.
The Spurs are in win-now mode, as evidenced by their trade for De’Aaron Fox at the deadline. Durant showed this season that he has plenty left in the tank. He averaged 26.6 points, six rebounds, and four assists.

Placing a lengthy player like Durant next to Victor Wembanyama will cause havoc for opposing defenses and offenses. The 15-time All-Star will be 37 years old at the start of next season, so it’s likely he’ll want his next and possibly final destination to be one where he can add to his legacy with one more championship.
If the Spurs can land Durant, they’ll instantly become contenders in the Western Conference.
